Levallois gets the vote over Lucky Luk, Carricklee Boy and Kappelhoff in a puzzle of a contest. None of these should be trusted with the mortgage money in truth, and Levallois is only put up as a tentative choice. Colin Tizzard's charge was lucky to finish second to Waynesworld at Newton Abbot in August after Cociembe slipped on the Flat, but he did finish 13-lengths clear of Lambrini Bianco, and on a line through that horse, has the beating of Lucky Luk. Kim Bailey's charge found Lambrini Bianco a length too good at Warwick, and was a beaten favourite at Fontwell next time. Off the track since, he will need the run and is opposed. Carricklee Boy has bits and pieces of form including a win at Huntingdon in June from nearly a stone out of the weights. He has been well out of form since, and just cannot be supported with confidence to add to his tally. Kappelhoff has been off since April and will want it much softer anyway, and the rest make even less appeal. An awful race can go to Levallois.
