Midnight Shot won twice over hurdles last season and should make a chaser. But the front-runner was pulled up when last seen at Haydock in a race in which SAM RED, rated 7lb higher, was sixth. Dan Skelton’s charge has an inflated mark over hurdles given he’s only ever won a maiden at Navan but he could thrive over fences, though fast ground here would be a worry. Another Irish import, Lofgren, has ability and makes more appeal than Edward Elgar and Rock Me Zippo of the others.
