In depth

Verdict

BASIC LAW has battled to narrow victories in his last three starts, all over shorter. The assessor hasn't been hard on him for his handicap debut and a four-timer beckons. Killourney stayed on well to score on fast ground at Gowran though he'd run well on his debut on soft going in October so conditions won't be a problem. Balefire landed a Cork maiden before just failing to hold on at Leopardstown on his handicap debut and looks certain to get into the mix while Turnberry Isle ran his best race of the season when dropped down to a mile at Limerick.
