Verdict

Sydney Thompson hasn't had much racing for his age and though his only victory came over this trip almost two years ago he continued to perform with credit up to his latest effort in March. REBEL TURN (NAP) is very progressive and has made great strides since stepping up to this trip on testing ground. He defied a 5lb rise when completing a double at Limerick last month and, though up another 6lb, looks the type to go on to better things. The form of his latest victory looks strong as The Pounds, who had been running well, couldn't get close enough to make his challenge. Gordon Elliott tries Figurative in blinkers despite a narrow defeat in a maiden on that same Limerick card. That was only his fourth start over timber and he's by no means highly tried for his handicap debut. Sue Bramall's Diamond Cauchois, a minor winner in France, is probably best watched on his first start since June.
