      Verdict

      GWENDOLYN (NAP) showed promise for Roger Varian and that is being fulfilled with Robert Cowell. An easy winner of a Wolverhampton maiden in December, she landed a handicap at Ripon in good style despite wandering around in the closing stages - she should have progressed enough to overcome a 7lb rise. Tumblewind has a huge weight to carry with her penalty for Sunday's victory over the track and trip and she's never won on soft ground nor has the lightly-raced Rosy Morning, who is having her first start over the minimum. Pull The Plug is also suited by faster going and all three victories by Margrets Gift have been in Class 5 events, though she won't mind the conditions
