Verdict

Strawberry Jack had to play second fiddle again when beaten a neck at Beverley on Wednesday and he's on the same mark. George Mallory should do much better this season, a point emphasised with a very good comeback at Pontefract while Wall Of Sapphire was having his first start on Turf when getting up at Windsor and is just 3lb higher. Ventura Bay has had eleven starts without winning but the assessor can't really drop him as he's consistent enough. PERFECIMPERFECTION is by Camelot and was always likely to do better in her second campaign. She reappeared with an eye-catching run at Windsor and a mark of 68 is likely to prove lenient. Creek Island hasn't been beaten far in any of his three maidens on the all-weather.
