In depth
Verdict
This does not look to be a strong handicap and the vote is given to Steelcut who is preferred to Deserted Dane and Avertuoso. The selection is a lightly-raced 3-year-old and he ran well when chasing home Everymanforhimself at Beverley last May. He does have a long absence to overcome today but his stable are in good form and he is consequently given the narrow vote. Deserted Dane has race fitness on his side so he is entitled to be thereabouts. He was disappointing when last seen out in Dubai but the return to the minimum trip should see him in a better light today. Avertuoso has been running in better races than this but he finished behind our selection last year and Steelcut looks more unexposed. With this in mind we will stick with Steelcut as our choice to lead them home.
