Several of these maidens look quite exposed, and Changing Guard looks one of Barry Hills' lesser lights. That said, this Royal Applause gelding would still have claims on some of his best form, although he has yet to encounter a surface this fast. Night Market has better form than most, including on this ground, but leaves the impression that he would be better over a furlong further. It may be worth taking a chance with Prince Dimitri. Having had just three runs last year, he has more scope than most and hails from a stable which is starting to run into form. His third here on fast ground last year was a fair effort and although he too may appreciate further in time, he gets the nod in what looks to be a very trappy event.
