Toy Top may be the one to lead the cavalry across the line in the finale. She's drawn highest of all so will not have to worry about their being dangers to both her right and left but her style of running does mean that she will be there to be shot at by those who prefer to come from behind. Michael Dods' charge didn't run too badly at Catterick last time given that the ground was far softer than ideal and, as long as the sun continues to shine, conditions here should be much more to her liking. She's 3lbs lower than for each of her last two successes, one came over course and distance; she was partnered by Neil Brown on both occasions and he takes the ride for the first time this season. Raccoon should give those drawn low a good tow and Bond Becks and Whozart make some appeal of those drawn on that side. Colorus looks capable of getting involved again as may Mr Rooney although he has flattered to deceive a couple of times in recent weeks. Niteowl Lad was behind that pair on his penultimate start at Beverley but stepped up on that form again when finishing strongly in a similarly competitive race at Doncaster last time. He's yet another for the short-list but Toy Top may be able to keep the massing hordes at bay.
