        Verdict

        An interesting staying handicap that looks to rest between The Grey Man, Cotton Eyed Joe, Whoopsie and Riodan and we will side with Cotton Eyed Joe. The selection is a consistent stayer who is dropping in the weights now and can act with some cut in the ground. The step back up in trip should suit and we take him to come good again. The Grey Man should not be far away if he handles this slower surface. That is a major concern however, after a previous flop on soft, and unless things dry out then we can't stake the hard earned on him. Whoopsie was a fast ground Musselburgh scorer over 14f in May, but has not managed a repeat since being reassessed. She is also in and out on soft ground and we prefer to look elsewhere, while Riodan will have conditions to suit and is unexposed over this trip, so could take plenty of beating if she gets home. But Cotton Eyed Joe should do that and we think he'll do so from the front.
