Brigadore ran better than expected on soft ground at Hereford at the beginning of the month and has to be considered but RAIDER OF THE EAST is a confirmed soft ground performer and looks a safer bet with the main danger rated as Galant Eye. Christopher Down's gelding is another with winning form on a soft surface and he has to be respected having run well in defeat in a selling handicap at Leicester recently but he faces no easy task at the weights and may be booked for a place at best. Beautiful Vision takes a big drop in class for Evan Williams this afternoon and has solid claims on the pick of his form but that has been over fences and he is not as good over hurdles, although he has not raced over timber since April 2006. Dai Burchell's Watch Out is capable of taking a hand in the finish in this contest and any further rain will help bring his stamina into play but it is hard to get away from Raider of The East. The seven-year-old remains a maiden but has shown improved form in his last two starts for Tim Vaughan having formerly been with Kevin Morgan and he looks worth siding with on ground that suits in a race that should not take much winning.
