In depth

Verdict

Chrysander may find the ground a little on the soft side, so we'll side here with INSIGNIA, while also giving a chance to Cousin Nicky. Alison Thorpe's gelding has plenty in hand at the weights, and can handle whatever cut there is in the ground. More recently he's been running on the flat, and this is his first chase since the summer, when he had some success. Chrysander is the highest rated of the small field, but the ground may be against him. This is a step up in trip too from his ready success last time out at Catterick. Cousin Nicky has to defy being top weight and hasn't progressed since winning here a year ago. The ground shouldn't be a problem, but the step up in trip together with the extra weight could be. So we return to the selection, which is Insignia.
