        Verdict

        SERENITY NOW escapes a penalty after winning an apprentices' race at Redcar last week and went close here on a couple of occasions back in April. Brian Ellison's charge gets the nod given none of Layline's six wins on the all-weather came at this track. The latter and Fire In Babylon have both won at Wolverhampton recently and Giles Bravery's charge scored off a higher mark over track and trip last year. Prolific course winner General Tufto and Major Rowan are both unproven over today's distance and Sofias Number One has not won a race since 2013.
