Karen McLintock's horses often come on for their first outing and the Luso gelding wouldn't need to improve too much, as the winner of his first outing went on to score readily over hurdles at Uttoxeter. Donald McCain is always feared in races of this nature and Art School is out of the 1993 Oaks winner, Intrepidity. Good breeding comes at a hefty price tag so the fact he realised just 5000gns as the sales is rather off-putting. Smart Agent performed well at Wincanton under positive tactics and it will be interesting to see if they are utilised here. Mad George upset a long odds-on shot at Plumpton on his debut and whilst the booking of Tony McCoy is unquestionably a positive, the five-year-old faces no easy task in shouldering a 7lb penalty all around.
