        Verdict

        The vote here goes to Local Poet ahead of Christian Bendix and Nepro. With six course and distance winners in the line-up as well as two recent winners running here under a penalty, this is quite a tricky event. Local Poet has come good over seven furlongs recently and is respected but Owed seems to be in the handicapper's grip. Flint River is more out than in these days but races in a first-time visor, while Nepro cannot be ruled out based on his five-furlong second here last time, his first run in Britain. Hit's Only Money is a shadow of his former self, while Middle Eastern has it to prove at this trip from his current mark. Winthorpe has more on his hands today under his penalty for his recent win, and Shifty Night and Zorn are possibly held on the basis of that form. His best Turf form would give Storm Chase a chance but, overall, others would be better fancied. Alexia Rose made late headway after a sluggish start last time and, finally, Christian Bendix looked an improved performer when scoring over course and distance last time and his chance is respected. Overall, though, Local Poet gets the call.
