A good contest where Ingleby Arch should go very well but might not get home and preference is for NIGHTJAR. Kevin Ryan's colt goes very well here, having enjoyed four of his five career wins at the track, three of which have been over this trip. He is 6lbs better off with Ingleby Arch for being beaten by one-and-a-quarter lengths over 6f here last time, and over this trip he can make the most of that. David Barron's charge would still be considered if this were again over 6f, but despite his pedigree he doesn't appear to get home over 7f, and so we are taking him on. Imprimis Tagula loves it here, but while he is likely to be competitive in the race itself, his mark is plenty high enough and he does his best work over 6f. Snow Bay just got home in front here over a mile last time, but the drop in trip should not inconvenience, and it is more likely that the penalty will do. Eisteddfod stays this far and has soft ground turf wins to his name, suggesting that he might appreciate this slower surface, and as the best horse in the race on official figures he will be tough to beat, but Nightjar is suggested for today.
