      Verdict

Court Of Appeal is a tough cookie on his day and he is selected ahead of Kylkenny, who is still a force to be reckoned with but has to concede plenty of weight, whereas the unexposed Charter Knight has to be respected in this company and is worth noting in the betting market. Romil Star and Mi Odds are no-thrills performers that should also do their bit to make a fist of things. Charter Knight won well on his first on these shores in a similar contest at this course last December. Mickey Hammond snapped him up for ¿7,000 and has not rushed him since. The son of Night Shift should at least confirm his superiority over Romil Star but doesn't appear to be the most straightforward of characters. Kylkenny on the other hand, is reliable at this level and is capable of throwing down a stern challenge if all goes well for him. However, he looks flattered off his current rating and the concession of 8lb to the selection may be his undoing this afternoon. Especially if Court Of Appeal puts in as dominant a display as the one he posted the last time he raced at Southwell.
