Verdict

THORPE BAY never looked like winning when fourth over C&D last week, but this is easier and he gets a tentative vote. Monty Fay has been in better form at Wolverhampton lately and he can figure if handling today's surface, but Russian Bullet was 10lb lower than his original handicap mark when scoring at the same track last time and a penalty may have scuppered his chances. Claretintheblood has plenty to find with the latter, while Lord Buffhead has posted a couple of poor efforts since his win in testing ground at Newcastle in August.
