For the selection we can look no further than HAWKSPRING, who will be closely challenged by Amazing Blue Sky and Cause For Applause. The selection is a course and distance winner and ran well last time at Southwell, showing plenty of pace. The gelding clearly has the ability to win a handicap off his current mark. Stamina looks to be Amazing Blue Sky's strong point. He hasn't raced since December of last year, but performed creditably at Southwell six months ago and the drop in trip may suit. Cause For Applause was a course and distance winner on New Years Day but hasn't had a run out since late January. He may find things tough in handicap company from now on hence the drop back into selling company. In a relatively poor field, we side with HAWKSPRING.
