Verdict

Tyndarius relished the soft conditions at Aintree last time, but may struggle today from the top of the handicap and so this may fall to Strong Magic, with Son Of Light and interesting contender. The selection , at the veteran stage now, showed he was no back number when chasing home Villair in a similar contest to this at Fakenham last time. He still looks on a decent mark and with ground conditions more in his favour today he looks the one to beat. Tyndarius is also no spring chicken, but won well from one remaining opponent in that Aintree event. His previous form stands up well, but 11st 12lb in the saddle may prove his undoing. A bigger threat may come from Son Of Light who was pulled up behind Tyndarius last time, but has scored over course and distance in the past and hails from a stable in top form. Free To Run and Monbanami are two others to consider in a tricky event, but Strong Magic's form looks just the stronger and he gets the vote.
