        Verdict

        Just the eight runners stand their ground for this handicap and, if fit for his reappearance, Mark Johnston's Petrosian would have to be of interest but a safer bet looks to be Calculating who gets the vote with Bentley Brook rated the pick of the remainder. The selection has been running consistently well of late, lost no caste in defeat behind Maslak last time when having Bentley Brook behind and he is taken to confirm that form and go one better today. Three Boars and Trachonitis have a bit to find with the selection on running in that race, while neither Black Falcon nor Don Pietro make much appeal on their return to the level after recent starts over hurdles. Leyte Gulf is another coming here after disappointing over hurdles and the safest option looks to be with Calculating.
