Soviet Sceptre is selected ahead of Silvio and Templet in a race that lacks strength in depth. Chocolate Boy is another to consider, though Tony McCoy will have his work cut out in getting the best out of this sometimes reticent character. Templet showed flashes of ability during his time on the Flat and has a small prize in him somewhere along the line. He holds place prospects in this company and is with noting in the betting. Silvio won a seller at Fakenham in May and has claims on that form. However, it will be a poor race if there is nothing in their lurking with the potential to better the worth of the form; with nothing making more appeal than Soviet Sceptre. The Richard Phillips-trained gelding has gone close in each of his previous starts over hurdles and is fancied to make his third appearance count. Going left handed will also be a plus for him.
