In depth

Verdict

This is the most competitive race on the card and several look to have decent claims. Hopatina completed her hat-trick in a mares' handicap over course and distance four weeks ago. She doesn't mind the mud and, though raised a further 7lb, should make her presence felt again. Knockraheen may need to drop a few more pounds but has ability and should be winning soon while another maiden, Silver Wren, made a promising comeback behind Upbeat Cobbler at Uttoxeter in November but has had another break since. Golden Calf ran his best race so far last time at Bangor and Yazdi and Gonalston Cloud are worth a second look but The Jugopolist only won a seller at Leicester last month and was well beaten back in handicap company next time. BARTON STACEY could be the interesting one as he looked to be on the way back at Wincanton last month and this is an easier task on paper.
