In depth

Verdict

ALPINE EAGLE likes some cut in the ground and conditions should be ideal. Jessica Harrington's charge gained his third success on the Flat at Killarney last month and an earlier close fifth behind Slieveardagh over timber has been boosted by the subsequent exploits of the winner. He can take this though there are plenty of dangers including Irish Poli, who scored at Kilbeggan last month but got no further than the second hurdle at Roscommon on Tuesday. Hunting Tower completed a hat-trick in the UK early last summer and has run quite well recently though any further rain would hinder his chances as he likes fast ground. Novel Investment won over the C&D in May then ran two fine races in better company before an excellent victory over Mr Bones at Galway last week. He has a 9lbs rise to contend with but is in such good heart that he looks a major threat to all.
