Verdict
Hong Kong Horse Of The Year Ambitious Dragon looked virtually unbeatable around here until a shock defeat when long odds-on last month. He's the obvious target for the challengers but Champion Stakes winner CIRRUS DES AIGLES should have his measure. The France-based raider, who has been beaten at the last two of these meetings, was surprisingly touched off by compatriot Byword at Longchamp in October and the latter should be forgiven a moderate effort in the Breeders' Cup Mile where he didn't get the best of runs. Pure Champion, better known as Steinbeck when racing for Aidan O'Brien, should go well though doesn't look quite up to this but California Memory loves it around here and can snatch a place at least.
