Plenty of these are novices for a very good reason and BURNSWOOD is our bet with Sea Venture and Janal the others of note. The selection ran a career best under forcing tactics to be second to Calcutta Cup at Catterick and if able to build upon that, his journey up North could prove a worthwhile endeavour. Sea Venture has promised plenty in a number of starts though has delivered little when it mattered. The handicapper has dropped him a couple of pounds down the handicap so he cannot be accused of forgetting all about Chris Thornton's charge. Janal won at 50/1 under ambitious tactics at Catterick. Morning Sunshine put up a couple of creditable efforts at Musselburgh and Wetherby during the winter so it will be interesting to see what obtains here. Hazy Oaks is exposed as ordinary though can be relied upon to run a solid enough race. Mr McGonagale was quite highly thought of when trained by Jessica Harrington so do not be surprised to see him make light of his likely odds here. Scale Bank was well backed last time out though never troubled the judge. Burnswood appears best on what we have seen so far.
