In depth

Verdict

Everything looks to be in place for CONDUIT to follow up last year's win. Spanish Moon and Dar Re Mi have strong frame claims but don't ignore Red Rocks at a more lucrative price. Racing on turf is the poor relation in the States whilst the twelve furlong trip is the exception rather than the norm and it's hard to see the home team landing this prize. The frontrunning Presious Passion looks to be their best hope but Telling is a strong closer who should be doing his best work late on. Conduit benefited from a strong pace to win this race a year ago and he looks set to encounter the same conditions this time around. He has held his form well and has been given a break with an autumn campaign in mind so his recent run in the Arc shouldn't be too much of a worry as he's a relatively fresh horse. Dar Re Mi has gone from strength to strength and was only a length behind Conduit in Paris. She looks likely to try and track the pace but she could find that others have a better turn of foot in the closing stages. Spanish Moon fits that category and he's been profitable to follow in France since his enforced exile from Britain. He's tactically versatile and should run a big race but has been passed over by Moore. Red Rocks was beaten a long way in this race a year ago but he showed signs of returning to form at Ascot last time in a decent race. He's a former winner of this contest and looks interesting at a price with that recent run to his name but it's hard to see him getting the better of Conduit.
