Jedediah, Dr Faustus and Better Hand make the shortlist here, with Jedediah taken to follow up a hugely promising debut in a Royal Ascot contest with success here. Mick Channon has his two year olds in great form just now, and he had another winner on Saturday at Ripon. Better Hand represents him here, and this son of Montjeu stayed on well to take second on his debut, hinting at better to come. This is a hot maiden though, and he may have to settle for a place again. Dr Faustus is an interesting newcomer, representing Sir Michael Stoute, and being a son of Sadlers Wells he should handle the soft ground. Although his dam was unraced, she hails from a classy family, and with the stable starting to fire again it would be no surprise to see him in the shake up. Jedeiah was a given a tough assignment for his debut, trainer Andrew Balding asking him to compete in the Listed Chesham Stakes. He ran a blinder, beaten just over a length by Maze, whose trainer Bryan Smart is aiming at the Classics. Reasonable improvement for the experience should enable Jedediah to win this.
