Verdict

Trying 2m for the first time, El Picador was second at Haydock in a race run at a decent gallop. Single placed over course and distance early last month and won over the trip last time at Newmarket. Evaluation has already won four times for Keith Dalgleish and was a fair fourth when favourite for the Northumberland Plate consolation last time but Danni California looked in the handicapper’s grip last time while Happy has been treading water off his current mark. Aggagio has been doing his winning on soft ground and has gone up another 4lb while Star Caliber has yet to fire this year. Liverpool Knight might offer some value given he was far from disgraced in the Old Newton Cup at Haydock after winning at Windsor. He won over this trip at Wolverhampton when trained by Alan King but DUKE OF VERONA is just preferred given he beat Single and Happy here last month before finding 1m4f too short at Kempton.
