A 6lb rise will probably not be enough to prevent Murrin from following up his Goodwood win from last month and he can do so, with Castara Bay, Just Two Numbers, Cnoc Moy and Lap of Honour all having some sort of claim. The selection won over a mile at the Sussex track, showing a good turn of foot in the process, and promising a fair bit more to come. He handled fast ground well then, but this slightly easier surface looks ideal and he can back up that success. Castara Bay has found one too good on both his last two starts in maidens. His handicap mark looks fair enough and punters will have to hope that his stamina holds out to the line here. Just Two Numbers is 3lb worse off with Castara Bay for a one-and-a-half lengths when last time they met and on that basis it should again be tight between the two, though Just Two Numbers would arguably have the more progressive profile. Cnoc Moy has won two of his last three over this trip and in this type of contest, and is very much respected, while Lap Of Honour may be capable of making the frame again but probably needs a favour from the handicapper before winning. An interesting contest then, and Murrin can make the most of his turn of foot.
