Valid Reason has been struggling lately but isn't badly treated today. Waldorf Salad is on a hat-trick after victories at Huntingdon and Taunton but has shot up the weights while Spencer Lea has 7lb extra after scoring at Ludlow, though is only lightly-raced. WESTAWAY also carries a penalty but was very impressive at Newbury last week and is from a family that often improve with age. David Arbuthnot's charge is taken to follow up as Berkeley Barron was well beaten at Exeter after finishing fourth in a Grade 2 at Chepstow in the autumn, though should strip fitter here. San Telm has his sights lowered a little and can't be ruled out.
