Verdict

Mystifiable was not unfancied on his reappearance at Newbury but was too keen and a spent force up the home straight. He should do better here but is still 11lb higher than his last winning mark. Mercian Prince got off the mark for Amy Murphy at Southwell but has gone up 11lb for that. Atirelarigo was given a superb ride by Richard Johnson at Chepstow and the champion jockey is on board again so he goes on the short-list along with Ballycoe, who has been dropped a couple of pounds. But Gores Island has been struggling to get his head in front in lesser company and the jury is currently out with regards to Marcilhac. MORNING REGGIE (NAP) won off a higher mark around here last March and will have benefited from his third at Kempton. He shouldn’t be far away and his chances would increase with any rain.
