never fluent, tracked leading pair, hit 7th (water), hit next and dropped to last, mistake and outpaced 4 out, rallied 2 out, went 2nd and kept on run-in, not reach winner
held up in 4th place, closer in 3rd at 8th, not fluent 2 out, found little and weakened last, kept on
chased winner, went left and pecked 1st, fiddled 6th, pushed along before 3 out, well held before the last, lost 2nd run-in, weakened
jumped well, made all, pushed along after 4 out, ridden between last 2, soon clear, not fluent last, stayed on well, driven out
A very disappointing turnout for a £30,000 contest. Yorkist made a successful comeback from injury at Aintree but failed to cope with an 8lb rise in a better race at Cheltenham. He is better than that last run and looks the danger to CAPELAND, much improved this term and seeking a fourth win of the campaign. He’s gone up another 7lb since Ludlow last month but is the type that always seem to pull out more. It’s more than two years since Poker School last won and he’s still 5lb higher, though this stiff 2m should play to his strengths. Darebin is a course and distance winner but hard to fancy from 6lb out of the handicap.
