Verdict

The ex-French Eldorado Allen could well prove significantly better than he's shown to date, suggesting as much when a good second here latest in a decent Class 2 handicap hurdle. He seems sure to be competitive with heavy ground holding no fears but he will need to improve to handle CALL ME LORD (NAP) if the form book is right. Nicky Henderson's charge showed a terrific attitude to land the International Hurdle at Cheltenham, prior to which he ran a cracking second to If The Cap Fits in the Ascot Hurdle. Heavy ground is fine and he's the one to beat. Quel Destin has possibly had his limitations exposed the last twice but is next best ahead of the unexposed pair of Benson and Zambella.
