      Verdict

Major Jack was very green on debut here in June but looks the type to improve with experience. Deeds Not Words is more exposed than the others but his fourth in a Goodwood nursery was a very solid effort and he shouldn't be far away again. Richard Hughes has chosen Newbury fifth Decimus Maximus ahead of Showpiece while Clive Cox's newcomer Golden Journey has a nice pedigree and should be noted for future reference. CAPTAIN BOB went close under Frankie over 7f at Newbury, only fading in the closing stages. The drop back to 6f is probably in his favour and he's taken to overcome a modest draw to get off the mark.
