John Gosden won this with the smart Fanny Logan last year but Shimmering has struggled recently and stablemate Lake Lucerne ran below par behind Chamade in a handicap at Goodwood last time. The latter had earlier finished behind GOLD WAND in a Listed contest at York when Roger Varian’s filly put a poor run in the Oaks behind her to finish second and she may prove the one to side with in this. Queen Power could figure back at this level having failed to threaten in the Nassau at Goodwood while the progressive handicapper Award Scheme scored over track and trip before winning at York last month. Bharani Star wasn’t at her best in the Oaks while the French filly Queen was beaten only a length in a Group 3 at Newmarket last year and Alpinista and Kirstenbosch are among the least exposed.
