Verdict
Gold Trade was placed in all four starts last year but a beaten favourite twice and he was beaten a long way on his reappearance in a Newmarket handicap. Ehtiraas is less exposed and still has an entry at Royal Ascot. But he's also in danger of becoming disappointing and will probably start at short odds again. CAUSE AND EFFECT looks the type to make a decent three-year-old having put an ordinary debut behind him with a good third in a decent Kempton maiden in October, though this drop in distance is a bit of a worry. It's almost a year since See You When finished third at Sandown but he still looks the pick of his trainer's two runners. Open 'n Shut was a £40,000 yearling and may be the best of the newcomers while Nightingale Valley and Awesome Quality will be qualified for handicaps after this.
