ALMOREB (NAP) is trying a new trip but was doing his best work at the finish over a mile last time at Sandown having been given plenty to do. His dam stayed this trip so stamina shouldn’t be an issue and Richard Hannon’s colt can win for the fourth time this year. Master Carpenter has probably been running better than form figures would suggest but he was only sixth in this last year behind Storm Rock, who is 10lb lower but has been woefully out of sorts this season. Ayrad has had a light campaign but is struggling for form so Twin Star is preferred.
Ayrad (IRE) 9-2 (9-2) Tracked leaders, driven to challenge over 2f out, soon hung left, weakened over 1f out, 4th of 5, 8 3/4l behind Midterm (9-2) at Epsom 1m 2f stks (3) gd in Aug.
Master Carpenter (IRE) 14-1 (9-5) Held up towards rear, ridden over 1f out, never dangerous, 7th of 10, 6 3/4l behind Kryptos (8-10) at Doncaster 1m hcp (2) gs in Sep.
Almoreb (IRE) 8-1 (9-2) Short of room soon after start, mid-division, headway over 1f out, chased leaders inside final furlong, never a threat, 3rd of 13, 3 1/4l behind The Grape Escape (9-2) at Sandown 1m hcp (3) gd in Sep.
Storm Rock 16-1 (8-11) In touch, headway 3f out, weakened over 1f out, 9th of 10, 34 1/4l behind Awake My Soul (9-0) at Haydock 1m 2f hcp (3) sft in Sep.
Twin Star (IRE) 14-1 (9-7) Slowly into stride, soon mid-division, ridden over 2f out, kept on same pace, never on terms, 5th of 9, 6 1/4l behind Novoman (9-4) at Goodwood 1m 2f hcp (2) gd in Aug.
