In depth

Verdict

Jasmick hails from an in-form yard and if he handles the softer surface, he looks the one that they all have to beat. Hambleden is an admirable sort who seems to have been at the wrong end of the handicappers' thoughts for the last couple of years. Today's race is an undoubted drop in class but we will watch him until he returns to this trip on faster ground. Optimaite is a quirky individual who has two ways of running. His best form is also on faster and we will keep our powder dry on him. Glory Quest is at least in-form and has the advantage of fitness and while connections have touted him as a stayer, there are manhy doubts into the form book. Staying should come easily to Heir to Be. He was disappointing on reappearance but showed enough over this trip at Nottingham on heavy ground last term. Flotta is watched in the market while Hitman, who used to be trained by Henry Cecil, makes a flat debut for Mark Pitman. With many doubts about the others, we recommend an each-way bet on Kaparolo. Amanda Perrett's gelding looks an out-and-out stayer and easily ran his best race to date in a decent handicap at Doncaster. He has been placed on a softer surface and is capable of going well fresh.
