In depth

Verdict

Plenty of possibles in this maiden with very little form to go on. Hustle, By Command, Palm Court and Spent make it to the shortlist, with the tentative vote going to By Command. The selection has arguably the best form on offer having finished fourth on debut at Sandown in what could prove to be a decent maiden (fifth already won since). He was slow away on that occasion and ran very green throughout so with nominal improvement today he looks sure to run a decent race. Not a lot was expected of Enactment on debut and he lived up to those expectations however the stable's horses often come on plenty for their debut and he should be monitored for market support. Hustle looks the pick of Richard Hannon's pair on jockey bookings and this son of Choisir looks a likely contender. Palm Court seems to be improving with racing and Roger Charlton's runner may be suited by the step up in trip, whilst Spent and Traphalgar represent trainers in form and shouldn't be ruled out of calculations. The betting will provide some further clues however By Command can land the spoils.
