SANDYMOUNT DUKE, a winning bumper and four times successful over hurdles, finished a close third behind Bellshill in a Grade 1 over timber at Punchestown before starting long odds-on for his chasing bow at Killarney. He jumped well but was eventually run out of it by the experienced The Winkler and should gain compensation. Bringerofthedawn finished runner-up on his chasing debut at Ballinrobe so it was a surprise to see him revert to hurdles at Sligo where he ran poorly. Full Cry was beaten a long way by the selection over timber at the Galway Festival but did well enough in three runs over fences to suggest he can provide the main threat. Winning point-to-pointer Hard To Call did well to win a maiden hurdle at Limerick as he was always destined for fences and further rain would aid his cause.
