Jim Bolger has won the last two of these and Altesse will make a bold bid as she's been placed at this level in her last four races and should be suited by the quicker ground. Panama Hat completed a five-timer last summer and has been racing over longer trips this season. She ran poorly at the Curragh last time but her earlier narrow defeat by Kingfisher at Leopardstown puts her in the frame. Drifting Mist was just behind in that latter event but Roheryn scored at this level a year ago and found 1m2f too short in a Group 3 at the Curragh last time. BANTRY BAY, a winner over 1m2f at the Curragh in May, was sent to Ascot for the Queen's Vase despite his inexperience and ran a superb race behind stablemate Aloft. He was travelling very well at this trip when impeded and, though likely to do better as a stayer, this should prove within his capabilities.
