Chemical Charge was second to subsequent Royal Ascot winner Portage at the Curragh on his reappearance and filled the same spot behind Sir Isaac Newton in a Group 3 at that track on his next start. He's conceding weight to decent opposition but should still be in the mix. Claudio Monteverdi was second in this grade at Leopardstown and then ran in the Irish Derby. He has the beating of stablemate Lieutenant General on the form book, though the pair share the same rating. Ballybacka Queen is useful on her day while Simannka has won her last three, though steps up in grade and distance for this. RED STARS (NAP) was fourth in the Oaks Trial at Naas last month, shaping as though this step up in trip would suit. Still entered at the Curragh in a couple of weeks' time, she's bred for stamina so gets the nod.
