Although he was a shade disappointing at Galway last time we will take ELMFIELD GIANT to return to form and win again today. A mile looks to be the optimum trip for Richard Fahey's gelding, who looked to be going the right way when breaking his duck at Newcastle in June and a 4lb rise proved too much in Ireland. However, due to the slight disparity in ratings between there and Britain, perhaps he was simply not so well treated and we are prepared to give him another chance. Chief Red Cloud has not yet won on turf but a 1lb drop since a decent Thirsk effort last time will help and with the yard going well he looks a threat. Fast ground and a mile suits Sir Frank Wappat who is only 1lb higher than his Haydock win a couple of months back, and perhaps this flatter track will suit better than two recent defeats at Pontefract. Desert Hunter is in very good form and will surely be competitive from the inside rail, though Elmfield Giant is the suggestion.
