Bird Over is in terrific form and should be followed until beaten, with Yorkshire Lad, Tax Free and Grigorovitch all likely to play a part in proceedings. Ralph Beckett has placed Bird Over very astutely this year as she is not too highly-rated, but her latest victory at Folkestone shows that she can handle Turf. Her maiden win last October came over seven furlongs on Wolverhampton's Polytrack, and it was no surprise when she returned there to score again in April. A comprehensive defeat of Cerebus at Southwell quickly followed despite her being dropped back in trip, and then came her most pleasing performance yet at Folkestone. Sent off a warm order as she was still six-pounds ahead of the handicapper despite a penalty, she proved far too good for the opposition despite racing a bit too keenly. She is learning all the time, and an eight-pound rise might still not be enough to stop her from following up. Yorkshire Lad returned to action at Nottingham after six-week break due to a throat infection, and pleased with the manner of his win, so the uplift in grade should not pose too much of a problem. Tax Free takes a sharp drop in trip after finishing third over a mile last time, and has joint topweight to overcome, while Grigorovitch in contrast stayed on over the minimum at Windsor and makes appeal for place purposes. Bird Over keeps winning though and can defy a rise in the weights.
