In depth

Verdict

Ashes is quickly turned out after winning at Wolverhampton on Monday and he can go in again at the main expense of Compton Classic and Colorus. The selection won quite cosily at Wolverhampton and although he has a penalty for that success he is clearly on good terms with himself and he might just be up to defying the rise in the weights. Compton Classic was disappointing when last seen on the all-weather but he is better on the turf and with his yard in good form he will not be far away at the finish. Colorus is having his first run for shrewd northern trainer Mick Easterby but this may be a fact-finding mission and he looks vulnerable under top-weight. Mr Rooney was backed as if he would run a big race on his first run for Dandy Nicholls on Monday but he did not get a clear run and he will be of obvious interest if he is backed again off his low mark of 68. This is a trappy affair but Ashes burnt them off at Wolverhampton on Monday and he can fire in another winner for the Karl Burke yard.
