Verdict

Midnight Malibu bids for a repeat of last year’s success in this and can race off a slightly lower mark but Queens Gift has been raised 6lb for a narrow-margin success at Doncaster and headgear is applied for the first time. Seen The Lyte failed to cope off today’s mark at Beverley having won on slower ground at Haydock earlier while Diamonique was second at the latter track recently but this is tougher. That leaves MERRY BANTER, who ended last year winning off today’s mark at Redcar and faces an easier task than when finishing a close-up fourth in Class 3 company at Ayr a week ago.
