        Verdict

        Though a 20-race maiden, SPARK OF WAR could be a cut above this bunch. He was staying on over a mile on his reappearance and ran well over 1m4f in a handicap at Catterick last summer on similar going. Having won at Newcastle in December, Optima Petamus was second twice at Southwell at the turn of year so handles different surfaces, though is only 1-28 on Turf. Seven For A Pound would have a chance on his best form but The Trendy Man was engaged yesterday at Ayr.
