Six of the last 10 winners of this have started from single-figure draws, though Tajneed was drawn towards the centre of the track when coming home in front in 2008. Second last year, the eight-year-old is 8lb higher this time around and will do well to go one better. Dandy Nicholls also runs Evens And Odds and Tax Free, who comes here off the back of an excellent second in the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood, as well as Gallagher but David O'Meara's Pepper Lane is just as interesting. She has a particularly fine record at Ripon and should make a bold bid to complete her hat-trick, despite a new career-high mark. Confessional may be better over 5f, but Fathsta would have claims if the rains arrive. Waffle invariably finds at least one too good so the vote goes to COLONEL MAK, who came good at this time last year when winning the Ayr Silver Cup. He may have a bit to find with some of these on recent form but is another who will relish every drop of rain that's fallen over the last couple of days and is back on a decent mark again.
