Castelletto sets the standard here and can take an fairly open maiden, with Colonial Girl, Miss Cotswold Lady and Wise Wager likely to be involved. Discounting her effort in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot, she has put in three decent efforts in defeat so far, including when staying on for second behind Roodeye at Windsor last week. A reproduction of that run would be good enough for her to break her duck in this. Colonial Girl finished seven lengths adrift of the selection when the pair were behind Gloved Hand at Nottingham in May and although she ran well enough last time at Southwell she still has plenty to do to reverse those placings. Miss Cotswold Lady has not got the best of the draw, but she also has a bit of ability, though she is not guaranteed to be suited by the drop back in trip. Nevertheless her yard is in form and she is expected to run her race. It will be interesting to see how Wise Wager goes too. A decent debut on fibresand was followed by a poor follow up on firm ground at Carlisle, and although a bit better is anticipated she surely only has a chance of making the frame, while Hillside Heather has begun her career well enough but has a poor draw which will make life difficult. The selection here then is Castelletto.
